Logan Paul took a blunt shot at former WWE colleague Tommaso Ciampa, and seemingly the company he now represents, during his latest YouTube vlog.
The exchange occurred while Paul was visiting Dr. Jeffrey Dugas in Birmingham, Alabama, for an evaluation of the torn triceps that has kept him out of the ring since May. Paul noticed a signed, framed photograph of Ciampa hanging inside the doctor’s office. The vlog identified Tommaso with an on-screen caption reading, “Professional Wrestler/Traitor.”
After someone joked about the picture being life-sized, Paul insulted the former NXT Champion, claimed that he was unemployed and turned the photograph around.
“You ain’t got no job no more, buddy,” Paul said.
Someone off camera pointed out that Ciampa technically does have a job. Paul responded by dismissing anything outside WWE as irrelevant.
“Not with us, and if not with us, it don’t matter,” Paul said.
Paul never mentioned AEW by name, but the target of the remark was clear. Ciampa joined the promotion almost immediately after concluding his decade-long WWE run in January.
The tone of the exchange and the vlog’s “traitor” graphic suggest that Paul was deliberately trolling Ciampa and AEW supporters. He did not clarify whether the comments were intended entirely as a joke, however.
Ciampa confirmed that WWE offered him a new contract before his departure, but he chose to pursue a different opportunity. He made his surprise AEW debut on the January 28 episode of Dynamite and defeated Mark Briscoe three days later to capture the TNT Championship in his first match with the promotion.
Although Ciampa’s title reign lasted only 11 days, he has remained prominently involved in AEW programming. He challenged Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship in April and later entered a heated rivalry with Chris Jericho, culminating in a No Holds Barred match at Redemption in July.
Ciampa is also scheduled to compete in the men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In: London on August 30, with the winner receiving a future AEW World Championship opportunity.
Paul, meanwhile, has not wrestled since tearing his triceps while defending the WWE World Tag Team Championship alongside Austin Theory at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23. Bron Breakker subsequently replaced him as Theory’s championship partner within The Vision.
The same vlog included encouraging news about Paul’s recovery, with the WWE star claiming that he had received limited clearance to resume certain in-ring activity. A date for his full return has not been announced.
Whether Paul’s comments lead to a response from Ciampa remains to be seen. For now, the remarks have supplied another deliberately provocative entry in the rivalry between WWE and AEW—even if Paul was the only participant speaking.
