Blake Monroe may have found a bigger stage for her first televised match on WWE’s main roster.
WWE officials have discussed adding Monroe against Giulia to Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, according to False Finish. The match has not been finalized or announced by the company.
The two women were originally scheduled to meet on the August 21 episode of SmackDown, with WWE promoting the bout as Monroe’s in-ring debut on the brand. It never officially began.
Monroe attacked Giulia during her entrance, blindsiding the former Women’s United States champion before the opening bell. The assault turned the advertised match into another chapter of their rivalry while postponing Monroe’s debut. Later in the show, Monroe objected to the idea that her first match should be against Giulia. She argued that someone with her résumé deserved an immediate championship opportunity against interim WWE Women’s champion Chelsea Green.
Monroe has been featured regularly since joining the SmackDown roster, attacking several wrestlers and competing in an untelevised match. She has yet to wrestle on main-roster television, however. Before arriving in WWE, Monroe competed as Mariah May and became AEW Women’s world champion. She later joined NXT, where she held the Women’s North American championship before receiving her main-roster promotion.
Moving the Giulia match to Sunday Night’s Main Event would give Monroe a more prominent setting for her official debut while allowing WWE to continue the storyline created by last week’s attack. For now, the match remains under consideration. WWE has not confirmed that either Monroe or Giulia will compete on the Atlanta card.
It was reported earlier that another big SNME match could be revealed soon. Below is the current card for the event, which takes place on September 6 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena:
* Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
* Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker
* United States Champion Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty in a five-minute challenge that could earn Trick Williams a championship rematch later in the night
