Marty Scurll’s NJPW Strong Appearance Pulled

New Japan caused quite a stir recently when it was revealed Marty Scurll recently attended a NJPW Strong taping with interest in returning to the company. Then after hearing he was merely in attendance, it was revealed that he had taken part in an on screen angle, signalling he was actually returning to the company. The uproar was huge that NJPW would bring back someone accused in the Speaking Out movement, especially considering the angle was taped.

Now the Super J-Cast Twitter account has revealed that sources have told them Marty Scurll’s NJPW Strong appearance has been scrapped and he won’t be appearing on Strong or any other programs affiliated with the company for the foreseeable future. While the appearance was already taped, it doesn’t seem like it will see the light of day.

Fightful Select has additionally reported that this move was made in response to the online backlash the company received over his involvement with the company. Not just that, but they have reported several NJPW roster members weren’t thrilled with his involvement either, hearing from numerous people who worked the tapings that if they had known Scurll was involved prior to the taping that they would have refused to work the taping. However, it was said the tapings went on without incident.

Scurll remains unemployed since ROH let him go earlier this year, and was named in the Speaking Out movement with accusations of sexual assault dating back to 2015.
