Update On Marty Scurll’s Involvement With NJPW Strong – Will Appear On Air

Marty Scurll was revealed to have attended a taping of NJPW Strong recently gauging interest in his return to the company. While it’s unsure if NJPW has interest, we now have more details of his time at the taping thanks to a new report.

An earlier report from Fightful reported it was unsure if he had an on air role, a source told Fanbyte that has knowledge of the tapings and wanted to remain anonymous that Scurll did have an on-air role at the taping, involved in a post-match angle with Rocky Romero. Scurll worked the NJPW Strong tapings back on January 22nd.

It can be hard to chase information on NJPW Strong tapings due to all people working signing an NDA, but the company made no secret to hide Scurll or his involvement in the show.

“They weren’t trying to hide him. I thought we were going to be the company that wasn’t booking these guys to get some buzz. They’re going to get buzz alright, but probably not the kind they’re looking for. And it just reeks of letting things slide because these people are all friends or whatever. I really just think fans should know his involvement beforehand, so they can choose to tune in or not.”

The source also added “I really just think fans should know his involvement beforehand, so they can choose to tune in or not.”

Scurll has lost his footing in pro wrestling after being named in the Speaking out movement. He had been accused of sexual assault in 2015 and eventually lost his position in Ring of Honor which involved him as being the promotion’s head booker. He last wrestled for NJPW in January 2020 and ROH in February 2020.
