Friends Say Paul Wight Had “Major Life Events” Leading To AEW Signing

The world of pro wrestling is still reeling from the shock announcement Paul Wight left the WWE and signed with AEW. The long term deal that will see Wight as one half of the commentary team of AEW Dark: Elevation along with being a part time wrestler for the company, shocked a lot of fans but some close friends of him think they saw this coming.

A report by Fightful Select says someone close to Wight thought some change was coming around. Wight’s Netflix show was recently canceled and he had just recently sold his home. The expiring WWE deal gave him the opportunity to look for a whole new beginning.

One person close to Paul Wight said that they imagined a major career move was happening as Wight has had some “major life events” over the past few months between selling his house, his WWE deal expiring and his Netflix show being canceled.

Wight brings a whole new element to the company and can do a lot for them in the commentary booth, in the ring, and behind the scenes. With how willing the veterans have been to mentor talent, Wight could be valuable to the company’s bigger men.
