Triple Threat Match Set For Vacant IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title

With Hiromu Takahashi injured, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship has been declared vacant and a new champion will be crowned at NJPW Castle Attack.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced a triple threat match to fill the vacant title will take place Sunday, February 28th in a triple threat match between El Phantasmo, BUSHI, and El Desperado.

On Thursday’s Road to Castle Attack show, Takahashi vacated the title, and while the match originally looked to be Phantasmo vs. BUSHI, Desperado inserted himself in the match after he and Yoshinobu Kanemaru won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles from Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori.

Takahashi is said to be out up to six months with a torn pectoral muscle.
