Conflicting Reports On AEW’s Interest In Tessa Blanchard

Maybe Tessa Blanchard still has options after all.

It had recently been reported that AEW had passed on signing Tessa Blanchard, and there may have been good reason. It was said that AEW recognizes Blanchard’s abilities and what she could bring to the company but made the decision to pass on her.

Obviously there were reasons to do so. The rumors of backstage issues and a poor attitude have plagued Blanchard her entire career, culminating with reports that surfaced before her IMPACT Wrestling World Title win last year about her using a racial slur against a wrestler. IMPACT kept her from media scrums and calls to address the allegations during her time with the company until her contract ran up earlier this year.

While some reports have said that not only would AEW pass on Blanchard but many in women’s division didn’t want Blanchard in the locker room, Wrestling Inc. has reported many of these stories are not true. AEW still has interest in bringing in Blanchard along with WWE showing interest.

The reason Blanchard has not made a move yet has to do with what is causing hold ups for many things in the wrestling world these days. The COVID-19 pandemic is still wrecking the world and while that goes on, Blanchard has opted to continue celebrating her recent marriage to fellow former Impact star Daga. While Daga was recently announced as an alternate for the MLW Opera Cup, it seems the two are waiting for the pandemic to end to make any long term decisions.

Blanchard herself has made an appearance post-pandemic, wrestling for Warrior Wrestling based out of Chicago.
