WWE Fires RAW Head Writer

It has been well documented over the last few months how crazy things are backstage within WWE. Last month SmackDown Live lost one of their head writers when Road Dogg stepped down from his role, and now it looks as though RAW has seen a major change behind the scenes as well.

According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, RAW head writer Ryan Callahan has been fired by WWE after being employed by the company for several years.

Callahan was apparently fired last Thursday, May 2nd, and it was said that his termination had nothing to do with the record low ratings, viewership, current storylines, or anything else along those lines. Instead it was reported that the issue with Callahan was due to his relationship with Dave Kapoor, who formerly portrayed Rainjin Singh on WWE television. It’s said that Kapoor felt that Callahan took the changes to creative a little “too personally” and was said to be difficult to work with. In addition he was not setting a good example for the rest of WWE’s creative writing team.

It was also noted that they were unable to confirm the authenticity of Kapoor’s claims, but it was said that the two appeared to have “butted heads often.”

Callahan had not been working exclusively with RAW, as it was also pointed out that he had been working with SmackDown Live as of late as well.

As we mentioned before this isn’t the first shakeup backstage. In addition to Road Dogg, and now Ryan Callahan, we had previously reported on how RD Evans had quit the company following the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony, Kazeem Famuyide, and Dave Schilling have also parted ways from the company.

Callahan’s previous work has included time with “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” “Monster In Laws,” and other popular TV shows prior to his time with WWE.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about Ryan Callahan’s firing, or anything else regarding backstage shake-ups.
