  • Brian Myers Recalls First Meeting MJF And The Moment He Knew He Was Different

Brian Myers Recalls First Meeting MJF And The Moment He Knew He Was Different

He’s better than you and even Brian Myers knew it.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman has become one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling today, but according to Brian Myers, it didn’t take long to realize there was something special about MJF.

Speaking during a recent appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Myers reflected on the first time he met the future AEW World Champion at Create A Pro Wrestling Academy. The former WWE and TNA star recalled that MJF arrived at the school during its infancy and was already showing signs of the charisma and confidence that would eventually make him one of wrestling’s premier performers.

Myers explained that MJF’s journey into wrestling mirrored his own in some ways, as both faced skepticism while pursuing a career in the industry.

“Yeah, I’ll never forget it. It was very early on, probably the first four months of Create A Pro. It’s kind of funny, because it’s a very similar mentality. He committed to something in college football, but he really had his heart set on wrestling. I think it kind of hit a wall with what he was doing and what his parents wanted him to do and what he wanted to do. I was in a very similar situation, because when you tell people you want to be a wrestler, it’s not really that believable. His dad came in with him, and it almost felt like, here he’s your problem now, this is what he wants to do. I was like, let’s go. So pretty early on, we did a promo class where he just murdered this kid, and I was like, okay, there’s something about this guy.”

The story offers an interesting glimpse into the early days of MJF’s wrestling career. Long before headlining major events and becoming one of the most talked-about names in the industry, he was already displaying the verbal ability that would later become a defining trait of his character.

Myers’ recollection highlights how quickly MJF stood out among his peers. While many aspiring wrestlers spend years trying to develop confidence on the microphone, MJF apparently made an immediate impression during one of his first promo classes.

Over the years, Create A Pro Wrestling Academy has produced several notable talents, but MJF’s rise to the top of the industry remains one of its greatest success stories. According to Myers, the signs were there almost immediately.

  • Brian Myers Opens Up About How Much Longer He Wants To Wrestle

Brian Myers Opens Up About How Much Longer He Wants To Wrestle

Veteran pro wrestler Brian Myers is thinking more seriously than ever about how much longer he wants to continue competing inside the ring.

During a recent appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Myers opened up about the realities of getting older in professional wrestling, while also explaining why he remains motivated to continue performing at a high level.

Now approaching his 41st birthday, Myers admitted that the conversation surrounding longevity has become something he thinks about constantly.

“More than ever. Yeah, it’s crazy how much it’s been [on my mind]. I’ll be 41 in a month. Ever since I turned 40, it just feels like, oh man. I always say Father Time is undefeated, and an injury could stop me. I just want to be the best version of myself, whatever that takes. We talked about Brock earlier, just taking care of yourself and staying healthy. Just because doing this is such a privilege to me.

“Like I said, when I have my last match, I’m gonna cry like a baby, because I just love it so much. It’s been such a part of my life. I’ve been doing it more than not at this point. So I think about it constantly. But then there’s people who are real motivations to me, like Edge and Christian and Chris Jericho. I see them still doing it at a high level, and they’re much older than me. I’m like, okay, sh*t, they’re doing it.

“Even guys like Frankie Kazarian and Eric Young at work, they are in the best shape of their lives, still having incredible matches, and they’re a little bit older. I’m like, okay, like they keep me motivated to stay on the ball.”

Myers has built a lengthy career across multiple major promotions, becoming one of the most reliable and respected veterans in the industry. Whether teaming with Matt Cardona, competing in IMPACT/TNA Wrestling, or appearing on the independent scene, Myers has consistently remained active throughout nearly two decades in the business.

While retirement is clearly something on his mind, Myers made it equally clear that he still has a strong passion for professional wrestling and continues to draw inspiration from veteran performers who are still excelling well into their 40s and beyond.

Names like Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, and Chris Jericho continue to prove that longevity in wrestling is possible with the right mindset and commitment to staying healthy, something Myers appears determined to emulate as he moves deeper into the later stages of his career.

At the same time, Myers’ comments also reflected the emotional connection many lifelong performers have to the business. Wrestling has been a defining part of his life for decades, and he acknowledged that eventually stepping away from the ring will not come easy.

For now, however, Myers appears focused on continuing to evolve, stay healthy, and perform at the highest level possible while he still has the opportunity to do what he loves.

    TNA Impact Results – May 21, 2026

On May 21st, 2026 TNA aired the 1,140th episode of Impact live in Sacramento California inside Sacramento Memorial Auditorium & can watch it on TNA Plus, AMC & AMC Plus (United States), SN360 (Canada).

-Kicking off this week’s Impact with Alisha Edwards asks the fans if they want to know something then hands the microphone over to Eddie Edwards.

-Eddie says the fans are looking at the most dominant force in all of TNA Wrestling history then says X Division Champion Cedric Alexander dethroning Leon Slater last week as X Division Champion was a statement that professional wrestling belongs to The System.

-He says The System is one step closer to holding all the gold in TNA Wrestling then puts TNA World Champion Mike Santana on notice and hands the microphone over to TNA World Tag Team Champion Brian Myers.

Myers asks the fans if they think that he and Bear Bronson as TNA World Tag Team Champions or if Alexander sucks as X Division Champion then says Eddie is a future TNA World Champion and a future TNA Hall Of Famer.

-He says The System is full of winners and Bronson adds that every person who steps up to The System gets taken out no matter how good they are.

-He says The System doesn’t care who believes because the result will always be the same: those who step up to The System will be eaten alive by the stable.

-Alexander says Leon Slater was 1 day away from becoming the longest reigning X Division Champion of all time but he became the record taker and calls out Fabian Aichner.

-Aichner makes his way out and says he’s not just some gimmick but a future TNA Champion.

-He says the X Division Title looks really good and he’s in TNA Wrestling to take his spot.

-Aichner takes out Bronson and Myers on the outside then sends Eddie crashing out of the ring.

-Alexander looks to deliver a Lumbar Check on Aichner in the ring but Aichner escapes and cinches in a sleeper on Alexander until The System comes to Alexander’s aid.

-We then head over to a video of a conversation between Daria Rae & Steve Maclin where Rae tells Maclin that he saw his value when the TNA Board Of Directors didn’t and says he has an opportunity to take out Mike Santana like no one else has been able to.

Indi Hartwell defeated Elayna Black via DQ (4:05)

-After the match Arianna Grace rains down right hands on Hartwell and dumps her out of the ring as she mocks Hartwell by telling her that’s how it feels.

-She blames Santino Marella as the cause for her losing the Knockouts Title to Lei Ying Lee.

-Marella’s music hits and he makes his way out.

-He reminds Grace that Lee beat her then says the only unfinished thing around TNA Wrestling is Grace’s attitude and says she should be grounded.

-He calls Grace a brat and says Stacks is filling Grace’s head with garbage then stares Stacks down.

-Marella grabs the Cobra sock but Daria Rae makes her way out to ask Marella what he’s doing.

-She says Marella is supposed to be the Director Of Authority but he’s picking a fight with talent and mocks Marella for being a judo fighter as she calls judo the weakest of the martial arts.

-She tells Marella to go through the proper channels and submit a request to the Board Of Directors if he wants to get his hands on Stacks.

-After the break we head over to The Elegance Brand’s dressing room.

-They are looking at themselves in the mirror but the lights suddenly go out and when they come back on, they find a message written on their mirror in lipstick from Rosemary, Allie & Mara Sade telling them that they’ll see them soon.

Matt Hardy defeated Vincent via Side Effect (11:29)

-We then head backstage where AJ Francis finds Elijah playing his guitar backstage and proposes a collaboration with him.

-Elijah declines his offer and says he would rather do his own thing but Francis clarifies that he was proposing a musical collaboration with Elijah rather than a tag team.

-Elijah still declines to collaborate with Francis and tells him that he’s a drifter who walks alone.

-We then head over to the Injury Report where we find out that Indi Hartwell is under evaluation.

-Mike Santana & Steve Maclin have also been medically cleared but the aforementioned Francis, KC Navarro & Moose have not been medically cleared.

-After the break Santino Marella announces that a Champions Challenge and a Women’s Champions Challenge will be happening next week.

-Daria Rae interrupts Marella and informs Marella that the Board Of Directors approved a match between him & Stacks for next week.

-The System then approaches Rae & Eddie Edwards asks for a match against Fabian Aichner next week & Rae approves it.

    International Title Match
Mustafa Ali (c) defeated Chazz Hall via Roll Up (4:47) (STILL CHAMPION!!!!)

-We then head backstage where Mara Sade asks Keith Jardine if he’ll be in her corner for the Women’s Champions Challenge next week in order to prevent Mr Elegance from interfering in things. Jardine agrees.
