NJPW Announces Teams For Upcoming World Tag League 2023 Tournament

The New Japan Pro-Wrestling World Tag League 2023 tournament is set to kick off on November 20th at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The tournament is set to last three weeks with the semifinals on December 8th and the finals to take place on December 10th. The World Tag League 2023 winner will receive a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship currently held by Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI.

This year there will be 16 teams split into two blocks of 8 teams. NJPW revealed all 16 teams today and they are as follows:

A Block

  • Shota Umino &Ren Narita – debut entry)
  • CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano) – 4th entry, 1st in three years
  • United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE) – 3rd entry, 3rd consecutive
  • TMDK (Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls) – 2nd entry, 2nd consecutive
  • BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd) – 2nd entry, 2nd consecutive
  • HOUSE OF TORTURE (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi) – 4th entry, 4th consecutive
  • Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa – debut entry
  • Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) – debut entry

B Block

  • Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto) – IWGP Tag Team Champions, 2021, 2022 WTL winners. 5th entry, 4th consecutive
  • Hikuleo &El Phantasmo -debut entry, STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions
  • Yuji Nagata &Minoru Suzuki – debut entry
  • Just 5 Guys (Taichi &Yuya Uemura) – debut entry
  • Yota Tsuji & TBA – debut entry
  • Soberano Jr. & Atlantis Jr. – debut entry
  • Monstersauce (Lance Archer & Alex Zayne) – debut entry
  • BULLET CLUB Rogue Army (Bad Luck Fale & Jack Bonza) – debut entry
