Warner Bros Discovery CEO Reportedly Said Tony Khan Is “Killing it”

It seems Warner Bros Discovery are happy with how Tony Khan has been delivering content for AEW.

According to WrestleTix, AEW All In is currently at over 80,846 tickets distributed. This would be a new record for a wrestling event. The previous record was set at WWE WrestleMania 32 with 80,709 tickets accounted for at the turnstiles. AEW All In is set for August 27 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

The show is the most anticipated in the history of the promotion and will feature several of the top names in the promotion. However, not everyone will make the PPV on Sunday, as even with AEW’s tendency to have long PPV’s, there is only so much room to go around on the card. This is an attribute to how successful AEW has been under Tony Khan’s direction.

During the AEW All In media conference, Khan was asked whether Warner Bros. Discovery classifies AEW as sports, with Tony noting that he feels they do fall under that category.

“I believe we do fall in with sports. We’re a very prominent wide sporting event. We do tremendous ratings. Warner Brothers Discovery is very excited about the potential of AEW. In the past year, I’ve been very fortunate to get to spend time with Mr. Zaslav and he is really excited about AEW. I will take it a step further. I saw Mr. Zaslav over the holidays with my father. I walked up to him, introduced my father to him, and the first thing he said to my dad is ‘Your son is effing killing it!’ I was very pleased with that and proud of that. It’s always nice when your boss tells your dad that you’re doing a good job. I believe it’s true, we’re doing a great job, and Warner Brothers Discovery is very pleased with the work we’re doing and Mr. Zaslav likes what we’re doing. I think that bodes well for everybody at AEW, the future of the company, and the wrestling business to have one of the most powerful people in entertainment taking notice of what we’re doing, paying attention, and trying to create opportunities for us,”

Tony Schiavone recently described how AEW is facing a lot of pressure with AEW All In.

We will have to wait and see how lucrative AEW All In will be when it airs on Sunday evening from Wembley Stadium in London and if Warner Bros Discovery will continue to be happy with how the company continues to succeed.
