On July 23rd, the DDT Pro Universal Champion Tetsuya Endo will be defending his title against Matt Cardona at DDT Pro’s WRESTLE PETER PAN 2023 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo.
Tetsuya Endo was interviewed today by the Japanese publication Pro Wrestling News Media as he discussed his upcoming match this Sunday against Matt Cardona.
Endo was asked about hearing for the first time that Cardona would be his challenger at WRESTLE PETER PAN 2023:
I was watching Cardona’s matches during his WWE days. However, I haven’t really looked at Cardona for that purpose. When I watched other player’s matches, there were many times where Cardona was the partner or opponent. He wasn’t a player to pay that much attention to.
Endo also commented on how he may have to be more concerned about Steph De Lander than Cardona:
I liked Cardona but now Cardona calls himself an Indie God and looks down on Indy players, and many of the games are won with the help of Steph de Lander, the female manager. Maybe it’s Steph’s move rather than Cardona that we should be aware of.
Endo also made these comments regarding the match against Matt Cardona:
When it was announced, I knew what kind of player he was, so it was like DDT was trying to set it up. The question remains whether it is reaching 100% of Japan fans. When I hear Cardona’s name from inside and outside, I sometimes hear that it is not good or does not come to mind. But I want everyone to understand that he has a great track record and looks good and has solid wrestling skills. And, genuinely, has been with WWE for 13 years. That’s just amazing. I think there is a good reason why WWE has been released and is active in overseas indies. You don’t come to Japan and leave with nothing. I think he is a player who will leave something behind and leave a scar. I hope you all have high hopes.”
Tetsuya Endo vs Matt Cardona will be the semi-main event of DDT Pro-Wrestling’s WRESTLE PETER PAN 2023 and is one of the most anticipated matches on the card.
WRESTLE PETER PAN 2023 will air live on WRESTLE UNIVERSE subscription streaming service.
