Angelo Parker Says He Almost Died In Blood And Guts Match Last Year

AEW Dynamite held their Blood & Guts special last year, which featured the aforementioned match. It saw The Jericho Appreciation Society duke it out with The Blackpool Combat Club and Eddie Kingston and Proud and Powerful.

Claudio Castagnoli would win the match for his team, submitting Matt Menard, to the annoyance of Kingston. In the cage match, Jericho Appreciation Society member Angelo Parker suffered heavy bleeding, which could have had serious consequences.

While speaking on the Swerve City Podcast, Parker compared the Blood and Guts match to another AEW stipulation, Anarchy in the Arena. Parker then revealed that he almost died during the match.

“So that one was — Anarchy [in the Arena] was nuts, and Blood & Guts was was crazy but like, man. I thought I was very close to passing away in that match. I bled so much… I had stopped bleeding at that point [when he was hanging upside down], finally. And then I started doing that hanging upside down thing, and I’m just looking down and I’m just seeing it pouring out.”

Just before the conclusion of the second cage match, Chris Jericho was subjected to a concerning swing by Castagnoli atop the cage. Regardless, we are glad Angelo Parker didn’t end up losing his life during the match.

We’ll have to see who AEW books in their next Blood & Guts match. Obviously, this is a fan-favorite gimmick match.
