Dakota Kai was released in April of this year as part of a string of releases from the NXT brand. Kai remained a free agent before making a surprising return at WWE SummerSlam alongside Bayley & IYO.
Speaking to Today FM, Kai revealed when she found out about her SummerSlam plans.
“I literally got told about all this a day before. There had been a few conversations, but nothing official. I didn’t even know if I wanted to do this anymore. It was such a whirlwind. Me walking out with Bayley and Io [Sky], it was difficult for me to process that but it was cool,“

Kai is currently teaming with IYO SKY in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament. They are currently in the finals after defeating Alexa Bliss & Asuka.
