Well this is a dream match possibility.
In terms of championships won in his WWE tenure, John Cena is one of the most successful talents of his generation, winning 16 world titles in the WWE. One championship he has never held in the promotion is the Intercontinental Championship. The title is currently in the possession of Gunther, who defeated Ricochet earlier this month to become the champion.
As part of Cena month, WWE posted an image of Cena with the Intercontinental Champion and Gunther would reply on Twitter, simply stating that he’s ready for Cena.
While Cena is tipped to face Theory at SummerSlam, it is not 100 percent guaranteed and a match with Gunther would likely catch the attention of a lot more fans than the Theory match up. Time will tell if we will ever see Gunther defend his championship vs John Cena.
