Raw Recap For October 22nd, 2018

(Segment 1) Roman Reigns Kicks Off Raw: Roman came out and did not have good news. He announced that he has Leukemia and would have to relinquish the Universal Title. This is horrible and was not expected at all. It sucks to see anyone go through this and really put a downer on the night.

(Segment 2) Finn Balor vs Bobby Lashley: This match was announced earlier today. I do like this feud and do think it could really shine if WWE puts some effort into it. I like the pairing of Lio and Bobby, it is really entertaining and combines well. Finn got the roll up, that means we will be seeing these two for a couple more weeks.

(Segment 3) Sasha Banks vs Ruby Riott: This was another match WWE announced earlier before Raw. They really tried to beef up Raw, and it worked. Banks and Riott are both good workers in the ring and can put on good matches when given time. Riott is up and coming, while Banks is at the core of the WWE Women’s Division. These two work really well together and are able to do a feud together and not with all these boring 6 women tag matches. Ruby took the win by pinning Sasha after hitting the Riott Kick.

(Segment 4) DX Live: Shawn and HHH came out to address their match at Crown Jewel with The Brothers Of Destruction. The stuff they said is the stuff they have been saying for weeks so it did not feel that special. It was boring until the Undertaker and Kane cut a promo on the big screen, and it was really good. They were in a cemetery and cut a great promo was done really well. This match at Crown Jewel is more for the nostalgia than the wrestling aspect.

(Segment 5) Paul Heyman Addresses Crown Jewel Match: Paul started out talking about Roman and his battle, he also gave a great life lesson to everyone. Heyman came out and talked about Brock’s match at Crown Jewel for the Universal Title against Braun Strowman. He was trashing Braun until Strowman came out and gave him a piece of his mind. As Braun turned back up the ramp he got hit with a Claymore from Drew.

(Segment 6) Apollo Crews vs Elias: This was random because it was not announced. Crews interrupted Elias’ song and then it lead to a match. These two are able to put on good matches and have a great feud because both of them are very talented. Elias pinned Crews after hitting the Driftaway. I would like to see more from these two because I can see a good feud between them. After this match they went to commercial, then came back with Elias trying to have another concert. Baron Corbin came out to interrupt him again and told him he cannot perform tonight. Things got heated between the two after Corbin told him to get off the stage and Elias would not. So Elias hit Corbin across the back with his guitar, this is another feud I would like to see.

(Segment 7) Raw Women’s Title Contract Signing: Ronda and Nikki went to sign their contract for Evolution, but we all know contract signings do not end well in WWE. This time it ended with no fights because Ronda gave the Bellas her word that she would not lay a finger on them if they got in the ring to sign the contract. They both signed the contract and went on their way. The only thing that happened was Nikki slapped Ronda after she signed the contract, but Ronda did not do anything.

(Segment 8) Nia Jax vs Dana Brooke vs Ember Moon vs Tamina: This is a random fatal four way but I am fine with it. Ember took the quick win by pinning Tamina after hitting the Eclipse. This match was like two minutes and the crowd was completely silent.

(Segment 9) Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre (Raw Tag Titles): WWE gave these guys a lot of time, about a half hour. I am glad WWE gave these guys this much time because they can really bring the house down. Seth and Dean became the new Raw Tag Champs, which we all thought would happen after Roman made his announcement. Great win for them!

Overall Raw Grade: B-
