NWA Announces The Crockett Cup Tag Team Tournament Will Return In 2019

Tonight the National Wrestling Alliance held their 70th Anniversary Show, NWA 70, at the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was announced during the broadcast that the NWA will be bringing back the Crockett Cup in 2019. Road Warrior Animal came out and made his way to the ring and was interviewed by Jim Cornette. During the segment the two announced the the NWA will be bringing back the Crockett Cup tag team tournament next year.

You may remember the original Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup which was held by Jim Crockett Promotions, NWA/WCW from 1986 to 1988. The Crockett Cup was a single elimination tournament in which the winner would receive $1 million dollars (kayfabe).

Previous list of Crockett Cup winners include:

  • 1986: The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk)
  • 1987: The Super Powers (Nikita Koloff and Dusty Rhodes)
  • 1988: Lex Luger and Sting
