The Bad Boy Joey Janela was part of the original AEW roster in 2019, and was with the company until his contract expired in 2022.
Janela was recently interviewed by Bodyslam.net’s Wombeezy and discussed a multitude of topics, including whether or not he is open to a potential return to the company. He stated that he would absolutely make a return to the promotion, saying that he is a better wrestler and more mature now – along with being two years sober, unlike his first run with the company.
“Absolutely. I’m a better wrestler now.. more mature, and I would go back at any time.. you know for sure. If the money is the same as itt was the first time around, you know. I’ll definitely go back, because I think I still owe taxes on that first contract… I Can pay him off with a new contract? Right?
But no, um.. Yeah, it’s just uh, yeah, I’d go back and I’m more mature now. I’m sober two years, you know. I don’t drink anymore. So that was like a big.. it wasn’t a big issue because I was wrestling all these great matches my whole career.. hangovers out of my mind.
But when you get to TV, it’s a different ballgame, you know, there’s different eyes on you. But yeah, two years sober and I just been putting out some great stuff on the Indies right now. And you know without even trying, so I’m sure I could do that on TV as well… but there’s only so many spots, you know. So I’m not in a rush.”
