Jim Ross Provides Health Update, Reveals He Has Quit Drinking And Is Awaiting Medical Clearance To Return To AEW TV

Jim Ross has provided some good news regarding his health as he hopes to return to AEW TV soon.

Jim Ross has been off of AEW Television after undergoing a medical procedure on his leg which required him to take time off work as he was unable to fly. Ross previously commented on his health situation that would keep him off television stating, “My leg needs to heal, and the good news is that the wound is getting much better, so I am healing. I just gotta get better. It’s not a matter of pain tolerance. The pain comes when I get to the city I’m flying to. Flying is the enemy right now. So if I can heal a little bit more, then flying becomes less of an issue. With this job, I can’t do it without flying. So flying is a necessary evil, if you want to use that term, and that’s kind of how I’m approaching it.

Good Ol’ JR recently provided another update on his health while speaking on last week’s episode of the Grillin’ JR Podcast. Ross revealed that he has recently quit drinking, as it was “not working well” with his diabetes medication. He went on to say that he hasn’t had any withdrawals, no sleepless nights, and that he hasn’t cheated as he remains alcohol free. He added that he has been losing weight, and that he feels healthier.

JR went on to reveal that he is waiting for the doctor to clear him to return to work.

“My goal is to get healthy, and drinking was not working well with my meds, my diabetes medications. I’m taking a new one, so it was a conflict. It’s a conflict of interests, so to speak, because I want to get healthier, and these meds gotta work, and I was diluting their strength by drinking, so I hung it up. I haven’t had any withdrawal, I haven’t had any sleepless nights. I haven’t cheated. I was tempted a couple nights ago, maybe it was Sunday, to go have a shot of Crown Royal, and I resisted the urge. I know that somewhere down the road, I’ll have that shot of Crown Royal, but I’m gonna do things in moderation, not like a massive 400-pound King Kong Bundy or something. But this has put a lot of weight off me. I’m losing weight, I feel healthier. I hope to go back to work sooner than later, but I’m not sure what the doctor’s gonna say. It’s not up to me. I gotta get released to go back to work because of this wound. The diabetes, I can handle and treat that on the road. But anyway, the drinking was just something that I had to do to maximize the investment, and it is significant, of all my medicines. So that’s why I did it, and it’s working out fine.”
