AEW Dynamite: 7/12/2023 Preview

Once more, the Canadian tour of AEW Dynamite persists, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Now the names for places are getting even worse. Canada is not a real place, just that country from Pixar’s Turning Red, currently on Disney+. On the menu for tonight’s wrestling happenings, we will be seated for the advancement of the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, a Owen Hart Cup Semifinal match, a debuting indie talent, a normal match, and progression on the Blood and Guts storyline. Let’s dig in, shall we?

AEW World Champion MJF & Adam Cole vs ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion Brian Cage & Big Bill (Blind Eliminator Semifinal)

Two teams who have worked surprisingly well, like peanut butter and chocolate, collide- um, clash. Yeah, wrong show, I get it. I get it. Now shut up. So, anyways, MJF seems to be enamored platonically with Adam Cole, possibly romantically, I don’t know his life. In the other corner of the ring, Big Bill and Brian Cage have their own momentum. I personally enjoyed the big boi bedlam they brought in their match last week, but will they take out the aces of wrestling? This could be a show stealer on most shows. This one just so happens to be stacked.

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin vs Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia (Blind Eliminator Semifinal)

Two babyfaces in Cassidy and Allin reunite against J.A.S.’s Guevara and Garcia. The denim-clad sloth and the skateboard purveyor have differing styles yet are incredible to witness. Could they last against the shifting team of Sammy and Daniel? Garcia is regretfully regressing further into his role as a sports entertainer rather than a wrestler to appease Chris Jericho, while Sammy’s been drifting away from the group. Could this lack of focus cost them the match?

Ruby Soho vs Skye Blue (Owen Hart Semifinal)

Ruby the runaway puts her emerald visage to the test with the young Skye Blue in a tournament that could make or break either woman. Ruby was so close last year and she’ll be damned if she doesn’t reach it this time. But with Skye’s momentum and impressive performances backing her up, could she pull out a victory over her tormenter for the past few months?

Chris Jericho vs Komander

I’ll be honest with you – I don’t really know why this is happening. Maybe they’re just being slapped together, which is cool. Komander is an incredible luchador and Jericho is a legend, but I’m sure this will factor in the Blood and Guts preparation segment later in the night.

Swerve Strickland vs Nick Wayne

The debut that’s been teased ever since Darby Allin announced that AEW would sign him on his eighteenth birthday is finally here. Will the impressive independent star in Nick Wayne defeat his rival in Swerve Strickland in a massive upset, or will Swerve remind him who the hell he is? This is going to be fast-paced and Nick Wayne is going to turn some heads. If you’re not behind him yet, get your ass there.

Blackpool Combat Club & The Elite Reveal Their 5th Men for Blood & Guts

The BCC and The Elite are down a man in a 5-on-5 match in a match beyond. Blood and Guts. Two rings, one cage. With Bryan Danielson out with an injury and being subbed with Konosuke Takeshita, the bloodthirsty crew will deploy their secret weapon. The Elite’s quartet also have a mystery partner involved. Beings that Eddie Kingston is in Japan preparing for NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament, he will have to miss out – but perhaps if we wish upon a Golden Star, all our dreams will come true.

There you have it, folks. Dynamite this weeks looks to be explosive. Which match or segment are you looking forward to? Personally, Nick Wayne’s debut intrigues me more.

Catch AEW: Dynamite tonight at 8ᴘᴍ ET/ 7ᴘᴍ CT on TBS.
