Exclusive Interview With Mariah May: Many Fans Have Mentioned The SWA Title To Me, This Is Intriguing. I Am Excited For The Future

Mariah May is an upstart pro-wrestling from London, England. Recently, she’s made a huge move as the young talent made her debut in STARDOM at Dream Queendom 2022. She was aside Xia Brookside as they accompanied Mina Shirakawa to the ring and later on formed a group called “Venus Club” with Mina. Now, Mariah has spoke with Bodyslam for an interview to talk about her STARDOM experience and what we can expect in the future. You can follow along with the exclusive interview below. 

You made a big time move at STARDOM Dream Queendom 2022 when yourself and Xia Brookside made your way to the ring with Mina Shirakawa. Firstly, how did the opportunity to preform with STARDOM come about? 

Of course I had to debut in style, and who more stylish than Mina? Mina came to the U.K. and scouted Xia and I to form the team Club Venus. It has been a dream of mine to wrestle for Stardom – the top female wrestling company in the world, and to train at the dojo for many years. Now my dream has come true. I am excited to develop my skills and technique in Japan and introduce the world to Club Venus!

How did it feel to walk out on stage as a part of a grand entrance in front of a packed crowd in Ryogoku Kokugikan National Sumo Arena? I can imagine lots of nerves were attached to that moment.

It was very surreal. I have imagined what it would be like to step foot in Stardom so many times in my mind, but I never dreamed it could be at the biggest show of the year. I am incredibly grateful and it was thrilling.

Mina Shirakawa is one of the most popular wrestlers in STARDOM and now you’re alongside her as apart of Club Venus, what were your initial thoughts when you found out about Club Venus?

Let’s do this!! I was so honoured Mina chose me, she is someone I have watched and admired for a while. She is so charismatic and brings life to all she does. She is beautiful and passionate, stunning and powerful in the ring. We are alike in style, that is why she named me ‘Fighting Princess’. Together with Xia we are going to work hard to be successful in the Triangle Derby.

You’re originally from the United Kingdom and have traveled all the way to Japan, will you be staying in Japan for the foreseeable future or constantly traveling back and forth?

I hope to stay for the foreseeable future. I have many goals to achieve and I love Japan. It feels like home to me already, but also like I have so much to explore and discover.

Being in a foreign country, how great is it to be able to have Xia Brookside along side you on this journey?

It is a lovely feeling to have a friend from home. I am glad Xia and I can do this together. We have wrestled together many times in the U.K. She is fantastic and has a great work ethic. This is her fifth tour and therefore she is more familiar with Japan and speaks some Japanese, she is helping me learn – alongside the other Stardom girls. It is comforting.

Now that you’ve made your way to STARDOM, is there anyone you’d love to face or someone you’re eyeing up on the STARDOM roster?

The dream match list is endless for me. I have been training relentlessly hoping to one day arrive at Stardom. At the moment I am eyeing up my opponents for my first match Lollipop – Waka Tsukiyama, Rina Amikura & Yuko Sakurai, that is what is in front of me and Club Venus. Many fans have mentioned the SWA title to me, this is intriguing. I am excited for the future.
