Cory McKenna Becomes The First Woman in UFC History to Win via Von Flue Choke

History was made tonight in the 2nd bout of UFC’s Vegas 59 card.

Cory McKenna not only is the youngest fighter on the UFC’s roster, she is now the first woman in UFC history to win with a Von Flue choke after she defeated Miranda Granger in the 2nd round following a takedown early in.

After her win she spoke to Michael Bisping in her post-fight interview. “I’ve never hit it before. So, that’s pretty cool.” It is cool to see history be made in a division with so many talented fighters.

The move was made by Jason Von Flue when in 2006 at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 3 against Alex Karalexis, Von Flue would successfully apply a very unique submission move to counter the guillotine choke with.

Ovince Saint Preux is also someone who gained notability and notoriety for having won four fights using the rare Von Flue choke submission, leading to fans renaming it to the “Von Preux choke”

The win earned McKenna her second win in the UFC since winning the Contender series in 2020.
