Matt Hardy Confirms Jeff Hardy’s Non-Compete Isn’t Up Until March; But Also Says Tony Khan Could Have Bought Out His Contract

Many fans have been speculating who will be showing up to take on Isaiah Kassidy on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

Fans began throwing out names after AEW president Tony Khan announced that Kassidy would be taking on a free agent, who would be coming through the forbidden door. One name that keeps coming up is Jeff Hardy.

Hardy was released by WWE back in December and fans have been interested in seeing what the Charismatic Enigma would be doing next. It now looks like Jeff probably will not be Tony Khan’s surprise on Wednesday.

While Speaking to Jon Alba on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy would touch on Jeff’s contract situation. While he would reiterate that Jeff’s Non-compete clause is up in march he also teased that Tony Khan could have bought out his contract.

“I don’t think he’s the guy coming in this Wednesday in AEW against Isiah Kassidy, Although, who knows. Tony Khan, Papa Khan has a lot of money. Maybe he bought him out of his contract and he is coming in early. Who knows. The final of the 90 days was supposed to be on March 9. March 10 he’s a free agent. Jeff’s no-compete clause runs until March 9. As of March 10, he will be free to do whatever. He can negotiate with somebody or work for another big company that has television. Do I think Jeff Hardy could end up coming to AEW and team with Matt Hardy again? As they say in the wrestling business, ‘never say never. Anything is possible.’ We’re definitely going to be working together and we’ll see if the planets align and get the opportunity to become the greatest team in all of space and time once more,” he said.

We will have to see who will show up this week on Dynamite. Matt and Jeff have been announced for multiple independent dates once Jeff’s non-compete has expired.
