Glover Texeira will put his newly-won Light Heavyweight belt up for grabs vs dynamic contender, #2 ranked Jiri Prochazka on May 7th at UFC 274 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The news was broken earlier today by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto as well as Prochazka on his own Twitter account.
Texeira wrestled the strap away from Jan Blachowicz’s waist back at UFC 267 via submission in the second round back in October. Meanwhile, Prochazka is riding a two fight win streak inside the UFC, putting away former 205 title challengers Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes in spectacular fashion to earn his shot at Light Heavyweight gold. On paper, some may think this is a striker vs a grappler matchup, however Glover’s proven that even at the ripe old age of 42, he has one punch KO power. He is currently riding a six fight win streak at the top of the division.
