AJ Styles Says He Was “P*ssed” He Was Barely On The Cover Of The Impact Video Game

AJ Styles loves video games, and he was hoping for a huge moment in his career when TNA Wrestling landed their TNA iMPACT! video game. Styles as the game’s cover star made perfect sense. He was the centerpiece of the company, one of their most recognizable faces.

However, the game’s cover found Styles relegated to the foreground, sharing the cover with Kurt Angle, Sting, Samoa Joe, and Booker T. That’s never sat well with the former Impact Wrestling icon. Styles spoke about it with the A Couple in With Cody Jinks podcast, and he mentioned how upset he was over the decision. Styles wasn’t just one of the company’s biggest stars, but had helped Midway brainstorm ideas for the game. In addition to that, Styles also took part in the motion capture for the game.

“I wasn’t on the cover of a game that I helped give advice for. Long story short, they ran out of time with the IMPACT Wrestling game and it was terrible. I helped with that and I really wasn’t on the cover. I was in the background throwing a forearm and I was pissed.”

Styles eventually got his dream fulfilled to be on a game cover when WWE put him on the cover of WWE 2K19, which he also discussed.

“It was unbelievable. I get to the biggest wrestling company in the world and they put me on their cover. It was huge. Being a gamer, it was huge for me. I was so excited.”

Thankfully Styles wasn’t the cover star for WWE 2K20, or one might assume him being on the cover was a jinx for bad wrestling games.
