Bobby Lashley Reveals What Vince McMahon Wants In His Stars, What He Said To Him After Winning WWE Title

Monday night on Raw, Bobby Lashley completed a 17-year journey and finally won the WWE Championship. He looked destined to sit at the top of the WWE card before leaving the company for a decade. Despite finding success in the world of mixed martial arts and even becoming one of the top guys in Impact Wrestling, he eventually returned to the WWE and completed his goal to become the WWE Champion.

Lashley spoke with Fox Sports about his title win and revealed what happened as soon as Vince McMahon found him backstage. He also revealed what Vince McMahon wants from his top guys in terms of desire.

“When I was able to go through that curtain [after winning the WWE Championship] and give Vince a hug, he grabbed me, and he held me for a while and was like, ‘Man, I’m proud of you.”

“You’re not here to have fun. Vince doesn’t want you here to have fun. Vince wants to get in an argument with you because you’re fighting for something that you want. Vince wants you to step out of the box and do something bigger.”

“Vince wants you to want WrestleMania so much that the crowd forces them to give you that title. I think I started to get into that point this last year, several months definitely. I’ve been mean, man. I’ve been mean. I go out there with a vengeance, and there’s a whole lot of confidence running through me.”

Few can argue how Lashley has evolved into a true main eventer for the WWE over the last year. While he was always in the midcard and upper midcard territory, his partnership with MVP has really transformed him into a true main eventer in the company and now it looks like he’s on the road to WrestleMania as the WWE Champion.
