Kofi Kingston Talks About Recent Injury, Says Missing Crowd Energy Helped Him “Feel It”

Last week on Raw, it was revealed Kofi Kingston will be missing time with a jaw injury. It’s the second time this year Kofi has missed time with an injury, but this time he knew pretty quickly.

On the New Day Feel The Power podcast, Kofi told fans he knew when he got injured. It happened during one of their matches with the Hurt Business thanks to a knee from Cedric Alexander. The knee wound up chipping one of his teeth, but the problem didn’t stop there. After feeling the problem persist for a week, they discovered the full extent of the injury.

“I got kneed in the face by Cedric Alexander three weeks ago. A couple of my teeth chipped, it was fine and cool. The point of impact was real sore. I thought it was a bruise or whatever. The next week, we have a six-man match and everything was fine. A little bit of pain, not terrible. Then, the next week, right before we went out, it kept feeling like it was loose. As soon we get to the ring, I’m moving around and I feel it like get out of place and like it wasn’t set in. I feel that if the fans were there, I wouldn’t have felt that. Throughout the match, anytime I would get hit, I would grab my jaw. The entire match, I was thinking about it,.”

Kingston brings up the point that the energy of a live crowd can increase adrenaline for the performers, but it’s been quite some time since WWE Superstars have heard the live crowd. Kingston unfortunately couldn’t rely on that this time, but hopefully his jaw injury won’t keep him out of action too long.
