Miro Says He Was Promised A WrestleMania Main Event By Paul Heyman

Miro is free from the WWE and seems to be enjoying himself in the confines of AEW, but the former Rusev has some stories to tell. One of them is that he was promised a main event at WrestleMania.

On Talk Is Jericho, Miro revealed that one of the reasons he was willing to be involved with the infidelity angle with Lana and Bobby Lashley was that Heyman promised him it would lead to a main event match at WrestleMania. At the time of the angle, Heyman was Executive Director of Raw and he assured that would be the payoff of the storyline, convincing Miro to work the angle.

“And I left and I stayed home for three or four months and I think Paul Heyman called us with that story, and I was like, ‘Where is it leading?’ Of course because this is my first question. Cool, it’s not my favorite story but where is it leading? ‘Main event of WrestleMania. One of the main events of WrestleMania.’ When you hear that, what are you gonna say? There’s plans and this is September, October, whatever it was so it’s a few months planned and it’s very realistic. Cool, I jumped on board and I knew it was a red flag since the beginning.”

Heyman may have indeed planned a Mania match for the two. Heyman was constantly pulling for long term booking, planning out storylines for the big four pay per views in advance. After Heyman was removed, things obviously went in a different direction, and Miro found himself without that Mania payoff.

Miro wasn’t booked for Full Gear, but that was because they are still building the angle with Best Friends for a payoff. There will be plenty of chances for Miro to continue getting booked on pay per view for All Elite Wrestling, but the dream of a WrestleMania main event is off for now.
