The WWE Draft is Back!

WWE announced the return of the draft and it will take place on October 9 and 12 in the Amway Center.

The draft presents WWE the opportunity to shake up things on all of their shows going forward. The question is if WWE will be able to take advantage of this.

NXT

Of all the WWE brands, NXT is the one that could really use a shake up. The Wednesday Night Wars are almost close to its first year and it can be said AEW won the first year. The draft could help NXT change the tides of the war.

Drafting wrestlers from the main roster to NXT could be an interesting idea. In particular, NXT’s tag team division went from being one of its highlights to now being their weakest division. The draft could allow NXT change the direction of their tag team division and give it the depth it needs.

Drafting some of the main roster talent would attract the interest of main roster watchers to the NXT product.

Paul Levesque on a media call said that NXT would participate on the draft, but on the official announcement stated only RAW and SmackDown would participate on the draft.

RAW & SmackDown

RAW & SmackDown will be the protagonist of the upcoming draft. The WWE programming has been bad with the exception of a few programs here and there. The draft could help WWE’s main roster the breath of fresh air it needs with new match up.

The women’s and Tag team division in the main roster are the ones in particular that will benefit from the draft if done correctly.

These roster changes could help make watching RAW and SmackDown more enjoyable, but then again, Vince McMahon is still in charge and only time will tell if there were any meaningful changes or just the same weekly stuff.
