WWE Offering Two Tryout Spots To Former AAF Players Affected By League Shutdown

The name Paul Fair might not be recognizable to most wrestling fans. He is a recruiter for the WWE PC and Director of Talent Development.

The Alliance of American Football announced this week that they are ceasing operations and might shutter the football league before the first season is even finished. That leaves many staff and players without a job.

Football players and WWE share a long storied history. Goldberg, Lawrence Taylor, Mojo Rawley, Gronk, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Brian Pillman, Baron Corbin, Tino Sabbatelli, Marcus Cor Von, Ron Simmons, Wahoo McDaniel, Roman Reigns and tons more have been able to segue a football career to a successful WWE career.

Knowing that, Paul Fair recently sent out a tweet inviting the former AAF players to a tryout. Fair’s tweet stated:

W/ the bad news coming out today for the players involved w/ #AAF, I’m opening up 2 spots to our April @WWE Tryout. Any player open to exploring opportunities beyond FB can complete a profile at http://www.wweperformancecenter.com  & enter #AnotherDoorOpens in the “Referred By” section.

Maybe the next breakout star will come from this tryout. Only time will tell.
