  • Big Damo & Nikki Storm Explain Acquisition Of PROGRESS Wrestling

Big Damo & Nikki Storm Explain Acquisition Of PROGRESS Wrestling

Last month news broke that former WWE Superstars Killian Dain and Nikki Cross, now known as Big Damo and Nikki Storm, had purchased PROGRESS Wrestling from Lee McAteer and Martyn Best, who had been owners the promotion since December 2021.

Big Damo and Nikki Storm recently spoke with Tom Campbell of Cultaholic wrestling about the purchase of PROGRESS and how the acquisition came about.

“Genuinely, this was not on the bingo card for us, either. We have talked about a million different scenarios for a long time. We have been wrestling for 22 years, Nikki has been wrestling for 18 years, so we know there is a time limit. We are going to have to start thinking about what is the future and we thought that was going to be with our little Scottish promotion in Glasgow, but no, it turns out.

“This opportunity came along a few weeks ago. Not long after Nikki had been released, actually. It was only a few days after. I’ll just be honest, I was in Belfast about to jump on a plane going to another show and I had to sit thinking about it on the plane like, ‘This is wild. There’s no way this could happen.’ Then I come off the plane and we start talking about it seriously. At first we were talking with James Amner, he’s been in situ at PROGRESS for a long, long time. He’s one of the hidden gems. He hates credit in every single way but he’s one of the reasons PROGRESS has been ticking over at all for maybe a decade.

“When I broached Nikki with it, she was like, ‘What?’ So there’s been plenty of conversations and, listen, the boys made it very easy. I dealt directly with Martyn Best…and he was very patient with me and we were able to come to the best agreement for both of us. That was one of the most amazing experiences in terms of how easy he made that for me. This could have been very, very difficult and this could have been out of our reach, realistically, because we are living in the United States. That is still our home. Obviously that will change in the next few years but that is our handicap, effectively, in one regard. But now it’s putting us in a position where we’re starting to think about, ‘Okay, what do we want to do next?’ and PROGRESS Wrestling has answered a lot of those questions very quickly.

“We can now start thinking about long term, and that’s something Nikki and I were talking about the other day. Our goal is to make this into the number one independent promotion on the planet.”

  • Wrestling Open Worcester Results- May 28th, 2026

Wrestling Open Worcester Results- May 28th, 2026

First match of the evening is an opening round of the women’s wrestling open championship tournament. Its Liviyah vs. Sammi Chaos where the winner goes on to face Gabby Forza in the next round. Sammi Chaos defeats Liviyah by pinfall and advances in the tournament.

Next is TJ Crawford’s open challenge that is answered by All In Bayno. TJ Crawford defeats All In Bayno via pinfall. Crawford was about to cut a promo when the music of Big Business hits. No one comes through the curtain and the crowd is realizes its just another one of Crawford’s tricks. Crawford leaves the ring without telling the crowd why he has had a change of heart and turned on Big Business.

Next, we’re subjected to a high pitched walked through the forest promo by Steven Stetson saying that he wants to be the first ever double champion and challenge Bear Bronson for the Wrestling Open champion. He then enters the ring and repeats himself for the live crowd and announces that he will challenge him next week. His opponent, Mani Ariez, saves us all from his voice. Despite a valiant effort, Steven Stetson defeats Mani Ariez via pinfall.

The real losers are us because we have to hear Stetson speak again as he grabs a mic. He informs Bobby Casale that he has one more test before he becomes a full member of the Stetson Ranch. He has for “help” with his match next week, but Casale grabs the mic to cut him off asking him “and what if I don’t?” Stetson informs him that he will beat him so badly that he will be out of the business. He also says that Casale wants him to show him what he has against an “old friend” and introduces Alex Reynolds who dances out to the ring.

The next match is Bobby Casale and Alex Reynolds. Reynolds slowly undresses for his match like some sort of stateside Naito. This was a great back and forth match but in the end Stetson ends up costing his own man the match. Alex Reynolds defeats Bobby Casale via pinfall. Where does this leave Casale in terms of his relationship with the ranch?

Next up is Kylon (not Kyle) King who will be taking on Ichiban. Lots of Kyle chants happened to the point where Ref Scott calls Kylon Kyle on accident. The match was a battle but it ended in a 15 minute time limit draw and with Kylon slapping Ichibon in the face before he leaves the ring.

The next match is a six man tag match. DJ Powers is teaming with Simply the Best (BRG and Oxx Adams) and will go against the team of Bombz over Beyond (Eric ChaCha, Handyman Jake Gray, and Ricky Shane Page). Before the match, BRG grabs the mic and is met with a chorus of boos from the Worcester crowd and chants of “moist.” Bombz over Beyond wins with Handyman Jake Gray pinning BRG.

The main event of the evening is another opening round of the women’s championship tournament. It will be Kylie Alexia going against Allie Katch. The winner will be going on to face Jordan Blade next week in the semi finals. Kylie works Allie’s arm most of the match and has tried to pull out every trick she has to defeat Allie. Kylie wins by referee stoppage after cracking Allie over the head with a turnbuckle she found under the ring. She will face Jordan Blade in the Semi Finals next week.
