Jim Cornette Resigns From NWA

Yesterday during an episode of NWA Powerrr, Jim Cornette on commentary, when referring to the toughness of Trevor Murdoch, said “mad bad and dangerous time know, he’s the only man known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia”.

This cause much anger throughout the wrestling community due to its racist connotations. Many called for Jim Cornette to be fired and said they wouldn’t watch NWA until Jim was gone.

NWA Vice President issued an apology and took the show down to edit the comment out. Then fans found clips of Cornette saying the exact same line in the 80’s and 90’s. Cornette and the NWA went silent. Until this morning.

Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance.
To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we’ve established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.
We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.
