Shayna Baszler talks Ronda Rousey and the fans reaction to her.
Back at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler faced off in an MMA rules match. After a brutal back and forth contest, Shayna was able to lock in a rear naked choke and choked out her former best friend in the middle of the ring.
The two have been long time friends for years, transitioning their friendship from the sport of MMA to pro wrestling, where the two have found success in WWE.
While speaking to WrestleZone for a new interview, Shayna explained why people attempt to discredit and erase Rousey’s accomplishments.
“I think Ronda Rousey is, I think she’s under-appreciated. I think people like to hate her for whatever reason, and it’s been that way in MMA — it’s because she doesn’t mince her words. People like to, because they don’t like her personally, they like to try to erase what she’s done for women’s sports, women’s combat sports, the UFC & WWE. They like to minimize that just because they don’t like her personally and I think that’s a shame. I might not be on the best terms [with her], but I will never deny that she did a lot for women’s combat sports. I think she’s under appreciated in some sense.”

Rousey is not done in the wrestling industry, as she will team with Marina Shafir to take on Athena and Billie Starkz later this month in Wrestling REVOLVER.
