Vince Russo Says Tony Khan Addressing The Chicago Crowd After Firing CM Punk “Should Never Have Happened” And It Was “The Absolute Worst Thing” Khan Has Ever Done

Vince Russo takes another shot at Tony Khan.

It has been a tumultuous couple of weeks regarding CM Punk. At AEW All In, Punk was involved in yet another backstage altercation. However, this one would be different than those in the past in various ways. Namely, Punk not only fought with Jack Perry, he also reportedly lunged at AEW president Tony Khan while furiously quitting the company.

These events would leave Khan no other choice but to fire the Chicago native with cause, despite Punk’s drawing power and status as the companies “real world’s champion”. Punk has yet to comment on the matter.

At AEW Collision last Saturday, Tony would speak to the Chicago crowd directly and took on a great amount of heat from the crowd.

Vince Russo believes however that this was a mistake, as he noted on social media.

Last night on “Castrating the Marks”, @JeffLane22 and I watched @TonyKhan go out and try to reason with a very hostile Chicago Crowd on why he fired their hometown hero, @CMPunk. Now, I’ve had a lot of fun with TK over the years because the guy does provide a great deal of entertainment, but this was far and away the absolute worst thing Kahn has ever done. It was desperate, embarrassing, weak, meager and 100% unnecessary. If I was in the back working for the guy I literally would have tackled him to prevent him from going out there, in an attempt to save him from himself. This was just bad—very bad—and I believe that it will make even the loyalist of @AEW fans look at their leader in a much different light. This should have never happened.
