Deonna Purrazzo Provides Steve Maclin Update, Talks Possible WWE Return, Potential Multiverse United 2 Match

Deonna Purrazzo was released from WWE in April of 2020.

She’s had an amazing career resurgence in IMPACT Wrestling, one that we hope lasts for a few more years at least.

As part of that resurgence, Deonna has had the chance to take on opponents and have dream matches that she might not have had elsewhere, such as the potential match for the NJPW Strong Women’s Title against Giulia at the upcoming Multiverse United 2 show this Sunday.

Deonna also used this time to field a question about her husband, Steve Maclin, and his injury status.

While guest appearing on episode #183 of Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps, Purrazzo was asked if she’d be interested in a return to the company or to make an appearance like Mickie James did at the 2022 Royal Rumble.

I don’t wanna say no (about a return to WWE) and I want to say yes but I also think that it’s kind of the circumstance of it. I think I’m in a place where I’ve done a lot of partial rehabilitation to my career in the last three years. I’ve been able to turn the tide of what people say about me in the conversations I’m in and submit my place in history and unfortunately, my first time in NXT and WWE did a lot of damage to that and so I think for me, it’s more about being cautious about maybe the situation I would be put in or something like that but I don’t wanna take it off the table because it is WWE and as a kid, I didn’t know any other wrestling. My dream was to become a WWE superstar and my dream has evolved many times over during my career but I think at the end of the day, it’s like, that’s something I’m gonna want to hold onto and say yes to. But I need to learn from my mistakes and do it differently if I was going to.

I’m so excited (to potentially step into the ring with Giulia) and when I was told there was potential to do this, it was like, ‘Absolutely.’ That’s someone I need to wrestle and it’s someone when fans talk about a dream match, has consistently popped up over the last few years and I just think it’s cool to see that our paths have never crossed but we’ve been in so many similar places. Me in Japan, her coming to the States and winning a championship in Japan is something that eluded me, until now. So I get the opportunity to compete for the New Japan STRONG Women’s Championship. That’s something I want to check off my list of things I’ve always wanted to do. I never got to win a championship in STARDOM and now I have the possibility to from one of the top competitors there. It’s the perfect mix for me.

He’s good (Purrazzo said about Steve Maclin). He just saw the doctor yesterday and got some good news so he’s on the way up. He’s on his way to a return. I don’t know when that will be but, he’s on the up and up.

Deonna became a 3x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion when she defeated Jordynne Grace for the vacant title at Rebellion in April. She held that title for another 3 months until losing it to Trinity at Slammiversary in an epic battle.

Deonna called out Trinity shortly after Slammiversary to make it known that she would be invoking her contractual rematch at the LIVE Emergence event on August 27th in Toronto, Canada.

Deonna has the potential to become a 4x IMPACT Knockouts World Champion, and with that, continue her quest to unseat TNA/IMPACT Legend and Hall of Famer Gail Kim as the longest reigning Knockouts World Champion in history. Gail sits at 702 days.

Can Deonna complete this quest? Only time will tell, but we sure hope so.
