It seems FTR knew they were re-signing with AEW long before they announced it.
The pair announced on AEW Rampage that they have signed 4 year deals and have plans to retire from the ring once the deal is up in 2027.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer briefly discussed FTR’s situation with AEW. He would mention how long FTR have known they would be re-signing and how long the deal had been in place.
“It should be noted that we were told months ago that the deal was already done and everything public was an angle given the storyline with the belts vs. leaving the company, and due to that, nobody could say so publicly.”

FTR are now the AEW Tag Team Champions once again, defeating The Gunns to become two time champions in the promotion. It is not known what is next for the team, but what we do know is that we will have four more years with the Top Guys.
