Edge’s Current Run With WWE Will Be His Last

WWE Hall of Famer Edge has made it clear that his current run with WWE will be his final one. The Rated-R Superstar returned to wrestling in 2018 after nearly nine years of retirement due to a neck injury. Since then, he has faced some of the biggest names in WWE, headlining WrestleMania 37 in 2021. However, Edge has expressed his desire not to become a burden on the company or the roster.

While speaking with Sirius XM, Edge talked about his career and stated that he wants to retire before he becomes a hindrance to the younger talent.

“I don’t want to be the guy who, when a young guy like Austin Theory looks at the lineup sheet, goes ‘I got Edge, alright, there’s going to be some work.’ I want Austin Theory to look at it and go ‘whoa okay cool I get to work Edge.’ Just like I did when I looked at the sheet and saw I’m working Mr. Perfect you know? That’s the feeling I want guys to still have. That’s what I want the audience to have. I don’t want to go past my sell-by date.”

“I still want to be able to be involved in a Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania if I’m around with a guy like Finn Balor who’s at the top of his game. I don’t want to stick around until that’s not the case. In a perfect world, I’d love to retire in Toronto. Do I know exactly when that is? No, I don’t. There are a lot of mitigating factors to that, but this is the last run, there’s no doubt about that.”

Edge is set to face Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania 39 in what will be the third Hell in a Cell match for Edge and the first for the Irish Superstar. Fans of Edge should enjoy his final run in the ring while they can, as the Rated-R Superstar has made it clear that he doesn’t want to overstay his welcome and risk his legacy in WWE.
