Brian Gerwitz On Triple H Being In Charge Of WWE Creative: “If in 2002 you said Triple H was gonna be head of creative, people would be running for the hills.”

Brian Gerwitz has his say on the current WWE product under Triple H.

During a recent appearance on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Brian Gewirtz, who wrote for the WWE from 1999 to 2012, shared his thoughts on Triple H taking over as head of WWE creative.

“I mean, I think it’s fascinating. It really is. I know people throw these superlatives out, but it truly truly is [interesting]. You can’t downplay the point of the like the sole funnel of everything from a walk to the ring to a graphic to anything being funneled to one person, in this case, Vince, no longer being there. Now it’s like a completely open-ended thing. The irony of course is like if in 2002 you said Triple H was gonna be head of creative, people would be running for the hills. Not because of his creative mind, but the fact that there was a conflict of interest as far as being a character on the show versus writing the show. He’s no longer a character on the show and he has seen and learned from Vince, for good and for bad. Anyone who would say ‘You know what, for you, for the sake of this company, I will simulate sex with a mannequin.’ But yeah, he has learned so much. He already knew so much going in because he’s just a die-hard fan. Not just like me [who stuck to] WWF and WWE through and through, he was 1981 NWA, Harley Race, and Killer Kowalski. I think he’s taken, based on the shows I’ve seen, going back to that stuff, but having been in WWE for so long, still recognizing the value of entertainment. You have to have a little bit of that variety for everybody,”
