AJ Styles And Ezekiel vs Ciampa And The Miz Finish On RAW Explained

The WWE wanted to have a DQ finish for this reason.

Last night on RAW, AJ Styles was originally scheduled to have a handicap match with The Miz and Ciampa, however, Ezekiel would offer his services as a tag team partner to Styles, and the pair would team up to take on the heel pair. The match would end in a disqualification as Ciampa blindsided AJ Styles when he wasn’t the legal man.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that WWE has a secret rule for tag team matches.

“There’s a secret rule in WWE that in a tag match, you only get one save and this was the second save, so therefore it’s a DQ… The other thing is, there’s guys from outside the ring, illegal guys, that do two-on-ones constantly, so it’s like that idea that the illegal man can’t do anything physical to the legal man or it’s a DQ, that’s ridiculous.”

Time will tell if we will se this match ran back due to the dirty finish.
