Tony Khan Explains Why Jon Moxley Is AEW #1 Contender

Jon Moxley is the current number one contender in the AEW singles division and this is done because there will be an interim AEW champion crowned at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door due to CM Punk being injured.

When the announcement was made, Jon Moxley was announced immediately for the following AEW Dynamite’s main event. He will face the winner of a battle royal that will open Dynamite this week. The winner of the match with Jon Moxley will go onto Forbidden Door and will face a representative of NJPW at the PPV.

Tony Khan recently took to Twitter to explain the decision for Moxley to be the new number 1 contender.

.@JonMoxley is the only AEW wrestler with 7+ 2022 singles bouts undefeated on TV (Dynamite/Rampage/Battle of the Belts) + PPV (Revolution/Double or Nothing). (7-0. Moxley + @AnthonyOgogo only undefeated 7-0 records in AEW in 2022, Moxley ranked higher based on opponents quality.)
