The current IBF, IBO and WBA (Super) middleweight champion took to Twitter to announce that the trilogy with Alvarez is officially set to go down on the 17th of September, no location has been set but it’ll be a packed show when these two collide.

The first bout between the two ended in a split-draw on September 16th in 2017 before they rematched on September 15th in 2018 where Golovkin lost by a majority decision.

The win in their rematch led Alvarez to go on a 7-fight streak before losing his 2nd professional bout when he went up to Light Heavyweight to fight Dimitry Bivol for the WBA (super) Light Heavyweight title.

Both men have a combined professional boxing record of 99-3-3, they have had a lot of trash talk delivered since their rematch about having a trilogy to settle it all and with it being set, we’ll see if Golovkin can avenge his loss and hand Alvarez his 3rd pro loss.

We’ll keep you updated when they announce the location and what both men could potentially be earning in their anticipated trilogy on September 17th.
