Reason AEW Did Not Run Dynamite Or Record Matches During Recent Jericho Cruise

The third installment of the Jericho Cruise took place this past weekend, which featured entertainment and wrestling featuring stars from AEW, ROH, NJPW, and the Indies. But one thing that was missing from the Jericho Cruise this go round, was a live episode of AEW Dynamite, which was featured as part of the second cruise.

The Jericho Cruise was discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, and Dave Meltzer noted that the reason AEW decided not to run a Dynamite from the ship this time around was because of how expensive it is for the company to record and broadcast previously. Additionally, it was noted that the previous AEW Dynamite that was filmed from the Jericho Cruise only pulled in an average rating.

“The rating was average [for the last Jericho Cruise broadcast] you know, I thought you know, with this cool look and everything it will do well, but it did not. It got the same average rating. It is difficult, if you tape ahead the results do get out. Going live, from what I was told, going live is very expensive. I can see why. They didn’t tape anything from there. Not even Dark, not anything like that.”

Earlier today, the fourth Chris Jericho Cruise was announced, and will take place in March over St. Patrick’s Day 2022.
