WWE Veteran Shoots On Vince McMahon’s Required Additional Training For Superstars Before Going Back On Road

With WWE set to hit the road and return to a live touring schedule beginning with tonight’s episode of SmackDown from Houston, it was reported that Vince McMahon required Superstars to participate in additional training at the Performance Center.

The additional training required by Vince is what ultimately led to Bayley’s torn ACL which will keep her out of action for at least 9 months. It was previously reported that many WWE Superstars were unhappy about having to report to the Performance Center for training prior to going back on the road, especially those who did not live in the Orlando area that were having to make an extra trip just to train.

In the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a WWE Veteran, who wished to remain anonymous, commented on WWE’s mandatory training prior to going back on the road where he clearly voiced his opinion on the mandate.

“I wrestled full time for 15 years. If you are in shape enough to do TV and PPV matches you need zero conditioning or preparation to go back on the road and do live events. My entire regular career I never did a single in ring drill for conditioning. I did cardio at the gym, sure, but never additional ring time. The only time I did in ring drills for conditioning was when I took post ‘retirement’ bookings and had to have a big match for the first time in a year or so but that’s because I hadn’t had a match in a year and was going to have to do 30 minutes at a top level. When I went from working 1 match a week locally to 7 nights a week I did zero drills to prepare. The only thing harder about 7 nights a week to once a week is the wear and tear on your body, so doing more wear and tear with drills to prepare makes it worse not better.”

WWE’s first event back on the road takes place tonight as SmackDown airs live tonight from Houston, Texas.
