Heath Slater Says WWE Offered Him Less Money To Come Back Following Release

It’s been about a year since the COVID-19 cuts the WWE made, and while several stars had to find life outside WWE following it, at least one star was offered a chance to return before charting a new path elsewhere.

Heath Slater was a recent guest on The Angle podcast where he talked about life after the COVID-19 related release. He revealed WWE offered him a contract to come back, but it amounted to about half the money he was making prior. Obviously he didn’t take it.

“They (WWE) offered me one back, but it was like half of what I was making. I was like, ‘Nah, I need to find myself and do other things and just chill. Just breathe and relax and spend time with the family. Just chill’. I never burned any bridges up there, they all know me. I still talk to more than half the people (in WWE). I was there for so long and we were friends. It’s no hard feelings. I told them, ‘I just want to go and do my thing for a little bit’. They were like, ‘We don’t blame you, you get it’. That was it. I talked to IMPACT, New Japan, and ROH. I talked with AEW after I went with IMPACT. They just wanted me to come in for a three-week thing to do some things. I was already committed with IMPACT.”

It seems like many people got similar calls and while we don’t know all who did, Heath was one of them. He may still be recovering from injury, but Impact seems to be a place he’d like to chart the next chapter of his career.
