CM Punk Says Pro Wrestling Doesn’t Necessarily Need Him Anymore

Make no mistake about it, fans want CM Punk back in pro wrestling.

Fans hoped for a surprise return at the Royal Rumble, and then fans wondered if Punk would be the mystery signing All Elite Wrestling would reveal at Revolution. When a surprise comes around, fans first lean and hope that CM Punk will be the one surprise being delivered.

While Punk hasn’t exactly been high on the idea of coming back, he hasn’t exactly thrown out the idea of returning to the world of pro wrestling. In a recent interview with Uproxx, Punk openly admitted that there’s a possibility he could come back someday but much has changed that he’s really not the one holding the cards in the locker room anymore. He certainly doesn’t even feel the business needs him anymore, and he’s at peace with that.

“I think the right combination could maybe be figured out, but it’s also not for me to figure out. It’s not my world anymore. I’m certainly not Hulk Hogan, where I’m going to show up somewhere and like, ‘no, this is how it’s going to be.’ The wrestling world doesn’t necessarily need CM Punk and that’s absolutely fine. Everyone seems to be doing great. I don’t know, it’s like flavors of ice cream. I walk into an ice cream shop one time and I’m like, ‘Oh, that seems like a good flavor. Give me two scoops of that.’ It’s just gotta be the right time, right place, right situation.”

While fans are dying to see more CM Punk, it seems like it’s more for others to figure out his place. For now, he’s content to sit on the sidelines and enjoy wrestling as it is.
