Over the last year thanks to the Speaking Out movement, more and more people have looked to hold people accountable in pro wrestling across the globe. That often can start in our own backyard, and unfortunately sometimes people slip through the cracks. Independent wrestler Terra Calaway has revealed Synergy Pro owner Patrick Shea is a registered sex offender.
Calaway posted a screen shot of his registry on Twitter, upset she had found this out after having worked with him, expressing regret due to his affiliation with her Dropkick Depression charity. She was unaware of these charges until recently, hence the reason she had chosen to work with Shea, also known as Colin West. When Calaway was made aware of these charges and his registry, she took to Twitter to out Shea personally, apologetic she had been involved with him. Calaway had no knowledge of this prior to this morning a little before she took to Twitter to post the information.
Synergy was scheduled to have shows around Tampa Bay the week of WrestleMania, but talent has begun dropping from the show and their affilation with the company, including independentwrestling.tv pulling their affiliation with them.
Synergy has often featured talent like MLW’s Jordan Oliver, Tony Deppen, Rohit Raju, and others. We will update this story with more as it becomes available.
Edit: The previous version of this article seemed to imply to readers that Calaway had prior knowledge of Shea’s actions prior to her work with him. Though we were certain it was clear she was not and her talking about it was also admitting she had been accountable for allowing his space in wrestling, it was not made clear enough. A second edit was made at 3:55p Eastern to make it clear Ms. Calaway had no prior knowledge of these prior crimes from Shea until this morning.
