Tony Khan Talks About Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch At Revolution

AEW announced a match to remember for AEW Revolution when they revealed Kenny Omega would meet Jon Moxley in an exploding barbed wire death match for the AEW World Title. It’s not a match that’s often been seen in North America, let alone for a promotion of this size and magnitude.

Many people are wondering how far AEW will take the match, considering how mainstream they are. There’s a lot to consider when it comes to the match, and Tony Khan knows it. Talking with PWInsider, Khan says that while he’s been debating doing this match for a while, he knows people are expecting something violent out of it they’ll get what they’re looking for.

“I came up with it when I was talking to Kenny about matches in Japan, great matches we could do. It came up a long time ago, probably a year ago. I had it in the back of my mind as something we could do. The timing was right now and it’s a great main event. It’s something we can do live. It’s an exploding barbed wire deathmatch. People expect a savage match and that’s what they’re going to get. It’s going to be one of the craziest matches ever on pay-per-view. I paid a big fine for what they did in Baltimore and I think this will be crazier and better.”

Khan referred to the unsanctioned match between Moxley and Omega at Full Gear 2019. While these two are no strangers to violence, one would expect them to turn it up a few notches at Revolution.
