John Cena Gives Update On WrestleMania 37 Status

There’s been a lot of talk about John Cena at WrestleMania this year, and at one point, he was considered a “100% lock” for this year’s event. However, John Cena begs to differ. Despite confirmation we’d see him at the show, Cena seems to beg to differ.

Cena is currently in Vancouver as he films the spin-off show for his Peacemaker character from The Suicide Squad. The HBO Max series would keep him busy, in addition to the strict COVID-19 restrictions that make traveling internationally difficult.

Now in an interview with Sports Illustrated, Cena revealed that the quarantine time needed between leaving for Canada and returning would cause halts in the production, meaning there “is no logistical way” he can participate in WrestleMania this year.

“Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max. Given the quarantine regulations, if I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks. Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the law right now, there is no logistical way I can be there. We film now until July.”

Besides a negative COVID-19 test needed to enter the US, Canada has the same mandate with stricter policies for quarantine compared to the US. While there were plans in place for Cena to work this year’s show, that may have changed thanks to the pandemic unfortunately.
