Update On Gerald Brisco’s WWE Status Following His Appearance On SmackDown

The WWE saw a huge loss suffered in their extended family earlier this week with the passing of Pat Patterson. Both NXT and SmackDown paid tribute to the former Intercontential Champion with 10-bell salutes prior to the start of the shows as part of honoring the memory of the legend.

People did notice familiar faces that haven’t been seen in the WWE in a while in the crowd as SmackDown stood at the entrance way, when fans noticed Gerald Briscoe and Sgt. Slaughter in the group. Brisco had been released earlier this year as part of the COVID-19 pandemic cuts and his appearance gave people the impression Brisco had returned to the company.

Ringside News has sadly confirmed his return was not a return to the company. Brisco was there to be in attendance for the 10-bell salute and sit-down interview.

WWE has lost a valuable friend and family member in Pat Patterson, and they were able to bring in a couple of long time friends of Patterson for the tribute. Patterson and Brisco will be forever linked together thanks to being labled as Vince McMahon’s Stooges during the Attitude Era, but he will always be remembered by his friends for more reasons. You can watch the sit down interview with Brisco about Patterson below.
