Hulk Hogan Biopic Still In Production, Many Hurdles Left Before Filming Begins

Lots of buzz has been around the Hulk Hogan biopic set for Netflix, especially after Chris Hemsworth showed a picture of him bulking up to play the role of The Hulkster. However, not everything is in place according to Eric Bischoff.

Bischoff spoke to Christy Olson during the “After 83 Weeks With Christy Olson” show on YouTube and said that it’s technically still in stages of development. He gave a lot of inclinations that pieces are in place for it to happen, but nothing is 100% sure just yet. There’s no scheduled start date, but they do have people committed to seeing the project through.

The project is still technically in development, meaning it’s not scheduled for production. There’s no casting going on. There’s no scheduling going on. It’s still in, I would say, the late stages of development. So it’s not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. I wish it was, because I’d be out looking for a new truck. But it’s not.

The bulk of my involvement honestly was in the early, early, early phases. All my heavy lifting has already been done.

Bischoff reminded us that in addition to Hemsworth, they had the top names of Todd Phillips and Scott Silver on the project. Phillips was the director of the Oscar-nominated Joker movie and Silver wrote the screenplay. In addition to that, Silver’s writing credits include 8 Mile and 2010’s The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg.

When you have the trifecta of Todd Phillips, who’s one of the more sought-after directors in Hollywood, [writer] Scott Silver, same could be said easily, and then it’s not that hard to get a guy like Chris Hemsworth. Well, I shouldn’t say it’s not that hard. It becomes a little easier to attract a top, top, top, top level actor when you’ve got top, top level directors and writers…That’s called packaging, and I think the packaging is what got this movie off the ground. That took place two years ago.

Bischoff said the biggest hold up is the pandemic, which makes sense. Productions for many major releases have been held up, but it looks like that’s just one of many roadblocks the film has to get started. We can only hope it clears them all. You can watch the rest of the show below.
